Helping Your Hair Survive Winter
Style Tips with LLPBA
Do you need help to get your winter hair to survive until Spring? Winter can be a tough time for your hair; dry air, cold temps, and using damaging heating tools can all can do a number on our hair this time of year. So what’s a girl to do? Whether your hair is need of a little hydration or it needs a whole rejuvenation process here are a few tips that can do the trick!
Damaged Hair:
If your hair is damaged from heating tools like curling and flat irons or from chemicals like bleach and dyes, a homemade hair mask of milk and honey can be essential to restore your hair to it’s healthy condition. They are easy to make and use only 2 ingredients – milk + honey! Start with a small bowl and add 4 Tbsp of honey. Then add 1/2 C of any milk you have on hand (we use Coconut milk in our house, so my hair spelled like a beach vacation!). It helps to warm the milk before adding it to the honey so they blend well. Apply to dry hair. Top with a shower cap, leave on for 15 minutes, shampoo & rinse! Viola. Healthy hair!

Oily Hair:
Oily hair results from lack of vitamins that help manage the pH balance. Yogurt reinstates the proper nutrients back into your hair. You can easily make a yogurt and egg hair mask to help out any oily hair individual’s hair routine. Mix 1/2 C of plain yogurt with egg white from one egg and 2 Tbsp of lemon juice. Apply to dry hair around scalp area. Leave on for 30 minutes, then rinse.
Frizzy Hair:
To tame frizzy hair, it is best to find a natural product that will add rich oils back in. My favorite is coconut oil. Coconut oil is incredibly hydrating, and it smells amazing. Just rub some between your fingers and run them through your dry hair. Focus mostly on the ends when doing this, as opposed to the roots (you don’t want your scalp to get too oily). Add it to your regular hair care routine a couple times a week and the frizz will be tamed like magic!
Dry Hair:
Avocado and egg yolks is a good hair mask to restore moisture in your hair and improve the overall shininess. Simply take a fork and mash up the insides of a ripe avocado then mix in one egg. Apply to damp hair, wait 20 min, and rinse. Avocados are high in vitamins, minerals, and fat which all work together to help restore shine to your hair!
