Top 5 Things to Bring to Your Session
Earlier in the summer, I created a list of 5 reasons to book a summer senior session and I had a lot of fun with it! So now that senior season is in high gear, I’ve had a lot of client requests for examples of items to bring to their session to really personalize the experience. I thought another list would be a good way to help clients out so they don’t have to scroll through my Instagram forever!
Thing One: Sports Equipment
I think this one applies to a lot of kids, and both guys & gals can get in on the action. SO many of my seniors love to bring their uniforms and sports equipment to their sessions because its one of their biggest involvements in school outside of academics. Even if you’re not a varsity athlete, sports might have been a way for you to connect with new people at school or find a place for yourself in high school. So if that sounds like you, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring a soccer ball or suggest we drop by a pool for your session!
Thing Two: Musical Instruments
Naturally, not everyone is sporty and that’s totally okay! My goal is to help you confidently express who YOU are. Some of my seniors find their niche in music. They’re really involved in band or orchestra, choir or worship team. It might not have even been a school commitment! But we have fun capturing that, whether it be in a field or by water or even downtown. Instruments can fit into any setting, and add a totally personal feeling to any session. Especially if you’re a little nervous about your session or having your picture taken, playing music can really help you loosen up and feel more like yourself!
Thing Three: Hats
HATS!! Some of my seniors are dying for a chance to wear a neat hat they’ve owned forever or rock a hat they adore (and maybe overwear ????). Your senior session is the PERFECT opportunity for this! Hats are a fun way to elevate your look a bit so if you (or your mom!) might want some images where you look a little more dressed up, hats are a fun way to do that! Or maybe you just adore a beanie or baseball cap to help you look more chill or for the memories. That’s never a bad reason to bring a hat along! They also are a great addition for guys or gals. They might just be one of the best ways to make your outfits more you.
Thing Four: Pets
I’m a little biased in this respect because all I want to do is meet your animals!! I love getting to hang out with people’s pets because I really have a soft spot for them. But really any animal is fun to have on a senior session!! Horses, llamas, potbelly pigs…I’m all in. Sometimes your pet is one of your best friends and your senior session would feel incomplete without them! Don’t hesitate to bring your furry bestie. We will be SURE to get a few shots with them!
Thing Five: Cars
You may not know this about me, but I’m a total car geek. I watch shows like Top Gear and Grand Tour, when we’re on vacation we always stop at high-end car dealerships and oogle over cars we could NEVER afford, and we’ve been known to visit a car museum or two. Life with 3 boys has made me an honorary gearhead. ????Not all of my seniors are car people, but I just had to mention this as one more thing to bring to your session! I’ve had seniors in the past with really awesome stories about their cars like maybe their parents gifted their kiddos cars for their 16th or they inherited a cool vintage car from a grandparent. Sometimes they saved up for their own car and love that it reflects an accomplishment like that! Regardless of what the car means to you, this is NEVER a bad thing to bring to your session. If you love your car, there is no reason we can’t squeeze in a shot or two with it!
Well, I hope that was helpful! Really, there a TONS of things you could bring to your senior session to really personalize it and make it reflect you. Reach out if you have any questions!
