SYNOPSIS:

When Poppy stumbles upon corruption, she relies on everyone underestimating her to discover who’s at the center of it, a revelation that shakes her belief in humanity. What she thought was a way to secure a future for her daughter becomes a spotlight illuminating the facts: Poppy is out of her league among the divas of Tinseltown.

Poppy must decide whether to keep her mouth shut, as she’s always done, or with the help of a scruffy dog, show the moviemakers that they need her unglamorous ways, whether the superstars like it or not.

REVIEW:

I’m always a sucker for a good adult coming of age novel.  And given that I read this while knowing I was about to become an empty nester myself, I totally immersed myself in this story and understood some of her hilariously irrational decisions. There’s No Coming Back from This is a darling story about a single momma doing whatever she can to protect her daughter and give her a better life. Even if it means moving + trying something new.

I loved that Poppy was such a straight shooter.  The novelty of Hollywood didn’t make her lose her sense of self and she didn’t get caught up in the drama.  She was brave enough to step outside her comfort zone but wise enough to sense when things were off.  

The wit and whimsy in this was so much fun and it made for perfect summer reading.
